Creamery Tour

Cows and Farm

From Sun and Grain. . . . Cows eat grass, chopped corn, hay, mixed feed, and water.

To Cow. . . . The cow's udder is washed. This keeps the milk clean. And it is a signal for the cow to "let down" her udder. Cows are milked by machine at least twice a day.  The milk is cooled to keep it fresh and good tasting.

Receiving the milk

Every few days, the milk is taken to the Creamery on insulated tanker trucks. The milk is pumped from the tanker to our stainless steel silo where it is readied for processing.

Testing and processing the milk

To the Creamery. . . . Milk is tested to ensure its freshness and safety. It is pumped from the silos into the plant using the control panel to regulate the flow and temperature. It is pasteurized and homogenized. This process heats the milk to a high temperature to kill any bacteria. This will keep the milk fresher longer. During this process milk is never touched by human hands.

Making the different milk products

Once the milk is processed it is either bottled or sent to other areas in the plant to begin making ice cream, cheeses, yogurts, and other delicious dairy items.

Creating products and packaging

When all the different products have been made, they are packaged to make them ready for delivery to the customer.

To You. . . . Finally, it is ready for you to enjoy. Choose any dairy product you like!
